Job Description:
General Superintendent (Painting) Role involves the following:
  • Project field management
  • Ensure on-schedule completion within or below budget
  • Provide on-site coordination for all phases of PAINTING & WALL COVERING
Superintendent is responsible for:
  • Working with foreman and crews on multiple projects
  • quality control (QC)
  • T&M tracking/ change orders
  • project production
  • progress reporting on iPad cropping
  • Jobsite safety.
Responsibilities of Superintendent:
  • Perform quality control duties and holding painters responsible for work performed on projects making sure all quality and safety items are being met
  • Communicate with project managers regarding change orders in the field; protect job costs and keeping track of onsite or T&M costs associated with extra not-in-contract work performed to prevent cost overruns
  • Identify any painter/ laborer non-compliance with safety, health, or OSHA standards. Superintendent must complete & maintain the OSHA-30 certification as manager
  • Superintendents are required to work a minimum of 40 hours per week and up to 58 if project demands require additional supervision
  • Identify conflicts in construction schedule from GC or any out-of-sequence of other trades that affect the painting trade. Impose cost impact if required
  • Walk projects daily/ weekly to monitor painter’s production rates and progress reports
  • Issue notices to journeyman painters regarding poor quality of work or not meeting job standards or maintaining production schedule (*this is important)
  • Write occasional emails correspondence required to address general contractor questions or concerns on your projects
  • Attend required preconstruction buyout meetings with PM, weekly meeting or safety meetings required by General contractor or owner(s)
Required Qualifications:
  • Must be good at problem solving and multitasking.
  • Spanish Speaking is PLUS but not required
  • Ability to identify deficient work by painters and provide resolution.
  • Blueprint reading & iPad use required for cropping production plan (will train)
  • Physically lift to 50 pounds if required on the job
  • Endurance and ability to visit entire job site, including stairs or other elevated structures
  • Customer Service is important - Manage difficult clients or painters responding promptly to GC/ client needs and meeting all commitments for SPI
  • Team player with accumulative knowledge of Commercial Painting & High-Performance Coatings (HPC) industry; able to read and understand product or safety data sheets (SDS) and installation of paint products.
